Summertime—a good time to affirm personal wellness

Summer holds lots of opportunities to focus on a healthy lifestyle. The weather invites us to walk, cycle, hike, swim, and be active outdoors. Farmers markets offer locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables. Plus, it’s vacation season, and many people take to the sky and hit the road to visit new and interesting places.

As you’re out and about this summer, keep in mind these important tips:

  • The right footwear is important for all physical fitness activities, including walking, hiking, and cycling. Even shopping can bring on foot fatigue.
  • Protection from the sun is important, and adequate hydration is essential for all activities. Always carry water bottles.
  • Attire needs to be comfortable and suited to your activity.
  • If you’re trying a new physical activity or level, training is necessary.
